![]() Like I said I believe it is mainly designed to improve the power output of small standard under powered OEM radios without having to change the system completely. This review is that of a subjective and personal analysis and please if you like the sound it offers for your ears - thats what counts then please buy it. If I get a response from the company I will post and clarify any misinformation from my assumptions on this product. ![]() ![]() I believe the Venza's JBL NAV amp has 7 power output channels. I was personally hoping after reading the limited info on their website about the product that it would also offer some time alignment / RT60 for each speaker channels to phase align the speaker delays in the specific car model cabin acoustics which in my opinion is what would really clean up the sound in these vehicles and also allow individual channel power outputs for all 13 speakers. You can get a booster with a variable graphic EQ for the same price or less on the market today. In summary I believe there would be not much in quality improvements if you already have the JBL NAV system except a boost of power but then you have to rely on their own preset locked EQ that they have locked in to their DPS. The DPS Plug-In re-masters all computer sound in real-time using the patented Digital Power Station audio enhancer technology. I believe this system does offer an automatic power /loudness levels improvements for cars with small standard OEM radio amps although I question the stress on the speakers who are only able to handle a certain power rating before frying cones. Bongiovi DPS 'plugs in' to your computers sound system so all audio from any application on your Mac will receive the sonic benefits of DPS technology. ( ie I could not hear the quality sound of the kick pedal on the skin of the kick drum anymore ) The bass frequencies were although muddied in phase which signifies they are most likely using passive type EQ instead of active which is common in car amps anyways. I did not notice any sound improvements or channel delay tunings between the car speakers. I immediately alternated the on / off switch by lowering the volume so that my A/B test had the same sound levels (the human ear has different phon levels responses (EQ) at different sound levels). In the model I sat in I noticed a boost when activated ( I did not have my SPL meter so this is an ear measurement). also it offers an interpretation of what the eq should be permanently set at for a particular vehicle model. What I hear is strictly a booster amp style effect (parallel power out hook up to existing power outputs of the OEM system ) but what I suspect is actually a input stage signal boost w a bridge/break connection. I can only comment what I saw and heard and is not meant to bash the product. I should note that I am a professional audio engineer and that I have yet to receive a response from the company about my inquiries on the unit specs such as power, bridging or booster wiring setup ?, and delay features capabilities. Well I finally got the time to listen to this system improvement in an other Toyota model ( not the Venza) at a dealer.
